SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Director of Engineering oversees all aspects of the engineering department related to electric motors and controls. This involves leadership of the managerial team in research and development as well sustaining engineering. This senior role involves managing a team, developing strategies, and ensuring the successful execution of projects and strategic goals. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization by spearheading research initiatives, fostering collaboration between interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products that meet market needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Functional:

  • Responsible for the leadership & development of the engineering staff
  • Provide leadership in the areas of motor and motor design for ElectroCraft.


  • This includes:
  • Ownership of the New Product Development Process
  • Continuously improve motor design and manufacturing processes with VAVE focus.



  • Identifying new product opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, optimize resource allocation, and enhance organizational effectiveness.


  • Development of succession and training plan for the engineering organization.


  • Respond to customer inquiries encompassing requirements definition, project prioritization, and support design related corrective actions.


  • Responsible for the development of the team to ensure technological expertise.


  • Collaborate with external suppliers that are critical products to ElectroCraft.

Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive research, development, and engineering strategy aligned with the company's overall objectives and market trends.


  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to identify emerging opportunities and challenges and help devise strategic plans to capitalize on them.


  • Fosters an environment of individual development and responsibility within engineering departments. This should be accomplished through leadership abilities and the development of direct and indirect reports with the distribution of project responsibilities.

Interpersonal:

  • Capable of providing clear direction to the technical team.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal at all levels.
  • Works positively with team members and others to continuously improve the business.



Business:

  • Leads initiatives to monitor customer trends and competitive landscape.
  • Possesses strong program management skills.


  • Provides clear responsibilities and career development to the Engineering staff.


  • Effectively engages in long term planning of engineering team to support the growth of the company.
  • Create CAPEX budget to support new product development.



Requirements:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Proven track record of leadership in research, development, and engineering roles within the manufacturing or technology industry, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable strategies and business outcome.

Experience should include a significant background in the management of:

A diverse staff with highly technical skills.

Multiple projects.

External vendors and contractors.

Expense and capital budgets.

Travel Requirements:

Must be able to travel overnight, both domestic and international, when required.
